5th graders have been expanding their knowledge of perspective and depth with this delicious Wayne Thiebaud project. We learned a lot about the amazing pop-artist, and noticed how he always had a strong use of shadows and perspective in simple objects like desserts and candy.

5th graders drew their own triple-layer Thiebaud style cake using the diagram below (it's color coded by step):
They chose what color construction paper they wanted for the background, and colored it with oil pastels to give it the extra "pop."
